World Majlis: Off the Beaten Path: Travel in the 21st Century

This forum looks at Australia’s expertise in digital technology and Australia’s commitment to sustainable tourism. This World Majlis event, which takes place during Travel and Connectivity Week (9 – 15 January 2022), aims to address the overarching question “What if the perception of both time and space changed?” from the point of view of how sustainable tourism could become the norm as we look forward to the revival of post-pandemic global travel.

The panel will look at how ecotourism aims to protect the environment and keep it as natural as possible. How to slow the pace of mass-market tourism and make ecotourism the new norm? How to involve the tourism sphere in working with local communities to make this happen? How to involve travellers in adopting new behaviours? This World Majlis session will consider these questions through a lively conversation that brings together diverse thought leaders, visionaries and changemakers.

The Australia Pavilion invites all to come down and learn about the movement in sustainable tourism and what our future could look like.
