Didgeridoo Joe

Joe Ziegelbauer, a Torres Strait Islander and is currently pursuing his career here in Dubai as a teacher and musician. The Australian Pavilion has had the honor of having him perform live on The Victorian Stage every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.

Joe's live performances include playing the Didgeridoo, storytelling, and the imitation of native animals and wildlife of Australia with the use of the Didgeridoo.

The Didgeridoo is a wooden brass instrument thought to have originated in Arnhem Land, Northern Territory, Australia. A few researchers have even suggested that it is the world’s oldest instrument, as the oldest cave painting dates back to 5000 years ago, other researchers think the Didgeridoo could be up to 40,000 years old!

It is such an incredible opportunity to watch Joe play the Didgeridoo here at our pavilion, drawing the past into the present. We hope you take this opportunity to see him live and experience such a huge and important part of Australian culture and history.
