Hosting a roasting: Australian lamb on the world’s stage at Expo 2020 Dubai

The MENA division of Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) hosted a hugely successful VIP Lambassador event at the Australian Pavilion on 17th and 18th March as part of Expo 2020 Dubai.

With an exclusive selection of foodies and chefs from across the globe on the guest list, the event was designed to bring together hospitality professionals from around the world. Acting as brand ambassadors for Australian lamb – or, Lambassadors – the event was an opportunity to learn about, create and collaborate on all things lamb.

The Lambassador program is recognised globally across MLA’s international markets to showcase the exceptional flavours, high quality and versatility of Australian lamb.

As one of the largest suppliers of lamb to the world, Australia’s leading capabilities in agribusiness have been on the world’s stage at Expo 2020 Dubai.

The VIP Lambassador event at the Australian Pavilion invited select chefs to prepare a five-course meal to draw awareness to the amazing flavour profile of Australian lamb, while demonstrating creative ways to prepare Australian lamb.

Justin McGowan, Commissioner General of Australia at Expo 2020 Dubai, says, “Known globally for its clean, green and safe produce, Australia’s reputation as a leading agricultural producer is well established.”

“The demand for lamb around the world has grown across regions such as the United States, Middle East and Asia. As the largest supplier of lamb across the world, Australia is in a unique position to maintain and increase the demand for safe, nutritious and delicious meat and livestock across the world.”

MLA in the Middle East North African region works with retailers, foodservice operators, importers, manufacturers and Australian exporters to meet the growing demand for halal red meat and livestock to the region.

“We are both honoured and excited to see a group of like-minded food professionals eager to endorse the greatest meat on Earth,” says MLA MENA Regional Manager Sam Gill.

“The Lambassador event was a great opportunity for visitors to experience the natural flavours of Australian lamb and we hope those attending benefit from the program.

“After all, there is no better way to learn about Australian Lamb than experiencing it with food professionals that utilize this truly unique product.”

Showcasing the best of Australian produce, Expo visitors can try MLA’s True Aussie lamb and beef at Aussie Grill in the Australian Pavilion forecourt until Expo ends on 31st March 2022.
